Wild Sheep Content has partnered with Globoplay to produce "Where Is She?", a six-part young adult mystery thriller originating from Brazil.
The series centers on the 2012 disappearance of Kika, a popular but envied 16-year-old, during a school trip. Her vanishing exposes a darker side to her seemingly stable community and puts innocent individuals in peril.
Years later, in 2019, Sarah, the daughter of Kika's deceased alleged kidnapper, launches her own private investigation. She becomes entangled in a complex web of secrets where appearances are deceiving, and nothing is as it seems.
The narrative skillfully interweaves events from both 2012 and 2019, leading to significant plot twists in each timeline. The story is an adaptation of Victor Bonini's crime novel "Quando Ela Desaparecer."
Directed and co-written by Fabricio Bittar, "Where Is She?" is set in Parque CECAP, a modernist social-housing complex in Guarulhos, São Paulo. This unique setting, designed as a communal living experiment, serves as a microcosm of society, highlighting how well we truly know those around us.
The series features a prominent cast, including Klara Castanho and Nanda Costa. "Where Is She?" is being compared to other successful mystery and thriller series, such as "Good Morning, Verónica" and "Mare of Eastown."
Globoplay's involvement reflects a growing trend for the streamer to invest in sophisticated series with high production values and international appeal, particularly within the popular genre of mystery and crime.
