The Scottish band Wet Wet Wet has announced a tour for next year, marking the 40th anniversary of their 1987 debut album, 'Popped In Souled Out'. This album reached number one in the UK charts.
Originally, the band featured Marti Pellow, Graeme Clark, Neil Mitchell, Tommy Cunningham, and Graeme Duffin. However, Pellow departed in 1999, leading to the band's hiatus. They reformed in 2004, with Kevin Simm of Liberty X replacing Pellow after his second departure in 2017.
Marti Pellow's departure in 1999 followed personal difficulties, including battling heroin addiction after drummer Tommy Cunningham left over a royalties dispute. Pellow successfully completed rehab and launched a solo career.
His solo work included the 2001 album 'Smile' and a West End debut as Billy Flynn in 'Chicago'. Pellow has maintained a connection with his former bandmates, noting their support after his mother's passing in 2003.
Pellow left the band for a second time in 2017, stating he could not give Wet Wet Wet the 100% focus it and its fans deserved due to his solo career. Despite not being with the group, he toured for the 30th anniversary of their hit 'Love Is All Around'. Pellow, who will turn 60 in 2025, expressed his continued passion for performing.
Kevin Simm will join the band on their upcoming nationwide tour.
