- The lawsuit claims a weight-loss surgery led to recurring sepsis.
- Feehily's stomach was removed in 2023 due to complications.

Westlife singer Mark Feehily is pursuing a medical negligence claim against surgeon Nick Carter. Feehily alleges that a weight-loss operation performed in August 2020 led to severe health complications, including recurrent sepsis.
According to reports, the laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy resulted in a leak due to insufficient stomach removal. This caused repeated infections and hospitalizations, culminating in the removal of Feehily's entire stomach in 2023.
Feehily's legal representatives confirmed the High Court claim, noting the singer's resilience during this challenging period. The surgeon reportedly denies the allegations of negligence.
This health issue led to Feehily's hiatus from Westlife, following a previous withdrawal from concerts in 2022 due to pneumonia. The band, formed in 1998, is currently on a world tour celebrating 25 years.
