The Westies, a new series set in the volatile early 1980s, plunges into the heart of New York City's Hell's Kitchen, focusing on the notorious Irish gang of the same name. Despite being heavily outnumbered by the Italian Mafia's Five Families, the Westies leverage their position to negotiate a share of profits from the construction of the Jacob Javitz Convention Center.
J.K. Simmons leads a cast that includes Titus Welliver, Tom Brittney, and Jessica Frances Duke in this gritty crime drama. Penned by Chris Brancato and Michael Panes, this marks their third collaboration for MGM+ following "Godfather of Harlem" and "Hotel Cocaine." Fifth Season is handling worldwide distribution for the highly anticipated series.
This announcement coincides with MGM+ and the BBC partnering on "Legacy of Spies," a series based on John le Carré's novels, starring Matthew Macfadyen as George Smiley. The production is described as the most ambitious adaptation of le Carré's work to date.
