Filmmaker Clarifies 'Welcome To The Jungle' Influences

Filmmaker Ahmed Khan has clarified that his new ensemble comedy, 'Welcome To The Jungle,' is not intended as a remake of 'Tees Maar Khan' or the Hollywood satire 'Tropic Thunder.' Despite a premise involving a film shoot in a jungle, Khan asserts that the storytelling and treatment are unique.

Khan explained that while some viewers noted similarities to 'Tees Maar Khan' due to the 'film-within-a-film' concept, his film offers a distinct narrative. He stated that shared subjects do not equate to similar films, citing 'Dangal' and 'Sultan' as examples.

Further addressing comparisons to 'Tropic Thunder,' Khan indicated that his film intentionally blends elements from various iconic Hollywood action movies like 'Rambo,' 'Saving Private Ryan,' and 'Black Hawk Down,' adopting an adventurous tone inspired by the 'Jumanji' franchise.

The screenplay for 'Welcome To The Jungle' was originally written years before the passing of writer Neeraj Vora in 2017. Producer Feroz Nadiadwala later refined the script, with Farhad Samji ensuring Vora's signature style was maintained.

Khan believes the script's age is a strength, offering a contrast to contemporary writing styles with its patience and depth. The film features a large ensemble cast, including Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal, whose chemistry from 'Hera Pheri' is utilized while ensuring they embody their new characters.
