The highly anticipated second season of 'It: Welcome to Derry' is officially in the works, according to co-creators Andy and Barbara Muschietti. While fans have been eager for news since the first season concluded three months ago, the Muschiettis explained that the delay stems from the meticulous process of developing the necessary material.
Season 2 is set to journey further back in time, exploring the year 1935. This season will focus on the historical Bradley Gang Massacre, a grim event from Stephen King's lore. The creators also teased the introduction of a host of new characters and a distinct Depression-era atmosphere, promising a gritty and compelling narrative.
Further creative explorations for future seasons were hinted at, including a potential musical episode and a black-and-white installment, though these remain speculative. Bill Skarsgård is expected to reprise his role as Pennywise, continuing the terrifying legacy of the creature in the haunted town of Derry, Maine.
