Wednesday S2: Spooky Secrets Revealed
14 Aug
Summary
- New asylum design contrasts with Nevermore's nurturing environment.
- Abandoned seminary transformed into a house of horrors.
- Features secret doors, spooky staircases, and defunct machinery.

For "Wednesday" Season 2, production designer Mark Scruton aimed to evolve the show's world from its initial success. Relocating to Ireland, the team reimagined sets, focusing on the menacing Willow Hill asylum. This foreboding location serves as a stark contrast to Wednesday Addams's school, Nevermore.
The design team transformed an abandoned seminary in Dublin into a terrifying space. Willow Hill features dark hallways, forbidding cells, and a laboratory, all intended to evoke fear. This contrasts with Nevermore's originally nurturing atmosphere.
Scruton incorporated intricate details like secret doors and spooky staircases. The sets also feature "dead tech," incorporating defunct machinery and historical-looking conduits, adding layers of eerie realism.
Previous seasons' elements, like gargoyles, were also updated. Pugsley's fireplace draws inspiration from "The Tempest," while a vast library of creature designs enhances the show's gothic aesthetic. The Nevermore courtyard also received a significant redesign.
