Summary
- CFO Gunnar Weidenfels' new contract starts July 2026.
- Annual base salary remains $2.5 million with bonus potential.
- New contract aligns with the proposed merger with Paramount.

Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) announced a new employment contract for Chief Financial Officer Gunnar Weidenfels, set to begin on July 11, 2026. This proactive measure ensures financial leadership stability as WBD navigates a proposed merger with Paramount.
The new four-year deal replaces an existing agreement and largely retains the same terms. Weidenfels will continue as finance chief until April 28, 2028. His compensation package includes an annual base salary of $2.5 million, with eligibility for an annual cash bonus up to 175 percent of his base salary, contingent on meeting performance objectives.
Additionally, Weidenfels is eligible for annual equity awards targeting $10 million and will receive a one-time restricted stock unit award valued at $2 million on August 17, 2026. This employment agreement is consistent with the terms of the WBD and Paramount Skydance merger announced February 27, 2026. Final executive compensation post-merger is still being determined.
