Summary
- Wasp co-founder Chris Holmes is undergoing cancer treatment in France.
- He faces significant medical debt due to insurance issues.
- A GoFundMe has been launched to support his essential care costs.

Chris Holmes, a founding guitarist of the iconic heavy metal band Wasp, is currently seeking financial assistance for his ongoing cancer treatment in France. The 68-year-old musician is undergoing chemotherapy for prostate cancer.
His wife, Catherine, revealed that an administrative error has resulted in Holmes being covered by 'emergency only' insurance. This has led to significant out-of-pocket expenses for treatments such as hormone therapy, scans, biopsies, and daily hospital trips.
The couple has accumulated €20,000 in medical debt, with future treatment costs expected to rise. Holmes must remain in France to continue his radiotherapy, preventing him from working abroad.
A GoFundMe fundraiser has been established with a goal of €50,000 to help cover these essential medical expenses. As of July 30, nearly €17,000 had been donated.
Holmes, known for his role in pioneering shock rock and glam metal, left Wasp in 2001. He had previously battled throat and neck cancer in 2022, completing treatment and being declared cancer-free in five months.
