24 Sep
Summary
- Dynamic Duo animated feature moves to September 22, 2028.
- The Gremlins movie is now scheduled for October 6, 2028.
- New studio Swaybox animates the 6th & Idaho film.
Warner Bros has announced significant release date adjustments for upcoming animated projects, unrelated to any potential merger discussions. The DC origin story feature, "Dynamic Duo," is shifting from its initial June 30, 2028, release to September 22, 2028.
This revised date is strategically chosen to capitalize on the back-to-school season, aiming to appeal to a broad audience including K-12 students, teenagers, and college-goers, with expectations it could attract the "Spider-Verse crowd."
Separately, the untitled "Gremlins" film, directed by Chris Columbus, is advancing its release from November 19, 2027, to October 6, 2028. This new date places it in a slot where Warner Bros has previously seen success, such as with "Joker."
The article also highlights the involvement of a new New Orleans-based animation studio, Swaybox, in producing the 6th & Idaho movie, scripted by Matthew Aldrich. Arthur Mintz and Theresa Andersson are the creators behind Swaybox, with Mintz set to direct.
