Supernatural Folklore Meets Cinema in 'The Vvaan'

The upcoming film 'The Vvaan,' starring Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia, delves into a unique blend of folklore, spirituality, and the supernatural, drawing inspiration from a 16th-century legend. The narrative originates from the Van Devi Temple near Patna, where local tales of ancient troubles and forbidden forests became the foundation for the movie.

Screenwriter Arunabh Kumar's interest was sparked by conversations with locals and priests, leading him to collaborate with director Deepak Kumar Mishra. Together, they pitched the idea to producer Ektaa Kapoor, who recognized its potential for a grand cinematic presentation.

Mishra, known for his work on 'Panchayat,' aimed to create a world that balances familiar contemporary elements with an aura of mystery. He found the protagonist's arc, a modern young man rediscovering his heritage, particularly compelling.
