Vivid Sydney is set to illuminate the harbour with a refreshed creative direction for its 2026 festival, running from May 22 to June 13. New director Brett Sheehy is focusing on the waterfront, introducing a shorter, unbroken 6.5-kilometre Light Walk. This year's event will also feature new daytime activities and an impressive 22 drone shows.
The aerial drone series is described as the largest ever undertaken by Vivid, with performances scheduled at Darling Harbour. A total of 11 nights will host two shows each, running Sundays through Wednesdays. This significant expansion follows the cancellation of drone shows in 2025 due to safety concerns.
