VisionQuest Cast: Spader's Surprise Return to MCU

Disney+'s VisionQuest is generating buzz with its ensemble cast, featuring notable returns and new faces. James Spader reprises his role as Ultron, agreeing to the project without a script, based on his confidence in showrunner Terry Matalas. Spader indicated that Ultron's presence in the series hinges significantly on the narrative direction established by Matalas.

New cast member Ruaridh Mollica, portraying Thomas Shepard, shared the difficulty of keeping plot details under wraps, calling it "very hard" but essential for building audience suspense and ensuring a surprising viewing experience. Mollica, who has previously acted in "Witness Number 3" and "The Franchise," emphasized the importance of maintaining secrets for three-and-a-half months.

Emily Hampshire, beloved for her role as Stevie Budd in "Schitt's Creek," joins VisionQuest as E.D.I.T.H., an AI originally created by Tony Stark. This marks a reunion for Hampshire and Matalas, who previously collaborated on "12 Monkeys." Also returning to the MCU is James D'Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S., another AI central to Vision's character, following his appearances in "Agent Carter" and "Avengers: Endgame."

Todd Stashwick will embody the mysterious bounty hunter Paladin, reuniting with Matalas from "12 Monkeys" and "Star Trek: Picard." Orla Brady takes on the role of F.R.I.D.A.Y., another AI, having previously worked with Matalas on "Star Trek: Picard." T'Nia Miller is set to portray Jocasta, with Matalas describing her performance as "revelatory" and "chilling."
