An Irish Club Hotel in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia, posted a video of a patron stealing a Guinness beer mat. The hotel humorously captioned the footage, comparing the theft to stealing a car or handbag and asking, "How will people know we sell Guinness?"
The hotel's Instagram post quickly went viral, amassing over 500,000 likes within 24 hours. This garnered significant attention and debate among social media users.
Many commenters sided with the patron, with some joking about starting their own bar or stating that stealing from bars doesn't count. Others suggested that high drink prices justified the man's actions.
Conversely, some users supported the hotel, noting that Guinness beer mats are readily available online for under $20. As of Tuesday morning, the man had not been identified, and the beer mat had not been returned.
