Summary
- Vinod Khanna was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2001.
- Spiritual practices aided his recovery from lung cancer.
- He later battled bladder cancer, passing in 2017.

In a recent revelation, Kavita Khanna, the second wife of the late Bollywood star Vinod Khanna, disclosed that the actor battled lung cancer years before his passing. The diagnosis occurred in 2001 during a routine check-up, when doctors discovered patches in his lungs. At the time, Khanna was a heavy smoker, reportedly smoking between 40 to 80 cigarettes daily.
Following the diagnosis, the couple consulted spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Advised to explore meditation and breathwork, Vinod practiced sudarshan kriya at an ashram in Rishikesh. Remarkable recoveries followed, with subsequent scans showing no trace of the disease, a phenomenon that astonished medical professionals.
However, the actor's health challenges resurfaced in 2010 with a bladder cancer diagnosis. Despite aggressive treatment efforts, Vinod Khanna succumbed to the disease in 2017 at the age of 70. Doctors had initially given him a grim prognosis of only a 25% chance of survival for two years.
