Vijay's Wife Files Divorce Alleging Infidelity

Tamil superstar and TVK chief Vijay is embroiled in a personal crisis as his wife, Sankgeetha, has filed a divorce petition in Chengalpattu. Sankgeetha alleges infidelity and mental cruelty, claiming she discovered Vijay's alleged extramarital affair in April 2021. This discovery reportedly caused her deep emotional pain and betrayal.

The divorce plea further states that continued infidelity led to what she describes as mental cruelty, public humiliation, and emotional neglect. Efforts to reconcile through legal and personal discussions occurred between September 2021 and February 2022, and again from August 2024 to February 2025, but proved unsuccessful.

Sankgeetha has declared the marriage "irretrievably broken down" and is seeking a dissolution decree, permanent alimony, and residency in the matrimonial home. The couple's relationship began nearly three decades ago, with their registered marriage in the UK in July 1998 and a formal wedding in Chennai in August 1999. They have largely maintained a private family life, raising two children away from the spotlight.

This personal development occurs as Vijay prepares to lead his party in the upcoming 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Reports suggest the couple has been living separately for the past two years, a situation that had previously fueled speculation due to Sankgeetha's reduced public presence at certain events.
