Kumar had worked with prominent English magazines, news agencies, and newspapers, including The Times of India Lucknow, for over three decades, earning the respect of his peers for his professionalism and humility.
Kumar, a diabetic but otherwise healthy, had gone out to buy milk and groceries on the morning of October 20th. Upon returning home, he felt uneasy while sitting on a chair and collapsed shortly after. He was declared dead around 9:30 am. Colleagues and friends across media houses expressed grief, describing him as a "calm, disciplined, and ever-smiling professional" who never let competition override camaraderie.
"Pawanji was a rare blend of simplicity and dedication -- a man with no enemies and no arrogance," said a fellow photojournalist. The journalistic community paid heartfelt tributes to the departed soul, saying his loss leaves a void that will be deeply felt in the world of visual journalism. Kumar is survived by his wife Sangeeta and son Shrey, and his last rites were held in Lucknow.
