Veteran Jackie Shroff Honors Iconic Actor Sanjeev Kumar on 40th Death Anniversary

On November 6, 2025, the entertainment industry and fans remembered the iconic actor Sanjeev Kumar on the 40th anniversary of his passing. Veteran actor Jackie Shroff took to social media to honor the late star, sharing a video montage featuring pictures of Sanjeev Kumar and the song "Tum aagaye ho noor aagaya hai" from the 1975 film Aandhi.

Sanjeev Kumar, who passed away at the age of 47 in 1985, was widely regarded as one of the greatest and finest actors in Indian cinema. Some of his most memorable roles were in films like Sholay, Arjun Pandit, Trishul, and Angoor.

Interestingly, the film Aandhi, directed by Gulzar, was at the time alleged to be based on the life of then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and her relationship with her estranged husband. However, the story was actually inspired by the life of politician Tarkeshwari Sinha and her connection to Indira Gandhi. The film follows the chance meeting of an estranged couple after several years, when the wife, now a leading politician, stays at a hotel run by her husband during an election campaign.
