Loretta Devine, the star of the new TV series "All's Fair," recently appeared on "The View" and reminisced about her breakout role in the 1995 film "Boys on the Side." Devine, who was 25 years old at the time, played a small part as "Woman in the diner" in the movie, which also starred Whoopi Goldberg, Mary-Louise Parker, and Drew Barrymore.
Devine recalled that during filming, Goldberg, who was one of Devine's co-stars, kept laughing and messing up their scene. In an unorthodox move, Devine took matters into her own hands and yelled "Cut!" on set, telling the director that Goldberg was disrupting the scene. Goldberg later admonished Devine for this, but Devine defended herself, saying, "Girl, they're not gonna fire you! They gotta know I didn't do it."
Despite the on-set antics, Devine and Goldberg have remained friends over the years. In 2023, Devine won her first Emmy Award for her role in the Netflix series "Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story." Looking ahead, Devine has set her sights on becoming a movie star, telling PEOPLE, "You gotta watch and see. Buy a ticket to my movie, honey!"
