Amazon MGM Studios presented the initial glimpse of its forthcoming psychological thriller, 'Verity,' at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. The movie, adapted from Colleen Hoover's bestselling novel, is helmed by director Michael Showalter.
Dakota Johnson portrays Lowen Ashleigh, a writer tasked with finishing a successful book series after its original author, Verity Crawford (Anne Hathaway), becomes incapacitated. A "for-the-room only" trailer revealed a tense narrative, showing Lowen arriving at the Crawford residence and expressing concern over Verity's condition.
As Lowen begins her work, she uncovers an unfinished manuscript that appears to contain chilling truths about Verity. Simultaneously, she finds herself drawn into a complex relationship with Verity's husband, Jeremy Crawford, played by Josh Hartnett.
The film, which also features Ismael Cruz Cordova and Brady Wagner, is scheduled for a theatrical debut on October 2. This project marks director Michael Showalter's reunion with Anne Hathaway following their recent collaboration on 'The Idea of You'.
