The Vasantholsavam festival, a vibrant celebration of flowers and lights at Thiruvananthapuram's Kanakakunnu Palace grounds, has achieved a remarkable footfall of over 1.5 lakh visitors. This grand event, organized by the state tourism department, will conclude on January 4, having provided a festive atmosphere for both residents and tourists.
The festival showcases an impressive collection of over 35,000 pots of flowering plants sourced from across the country. Curated by the Jawaharlal Nehru Tropical Botanical Garden and Research Institute, it features a dedicated chrysanthemum festival with thousands of blooms, alongside a diverse array of other popular flowers.
In the institutional category contests, the College of Agriculture, Vellayani, secured the overall championship with 648 points. The Museum and Zoo followed as the first runner-up, with the Legislature Secretariat taking the second runner-up position. The enchanting lighting spectacle complements the floral displays, enhancing the overall festive experience.
