Varun Dhawan Recalls Sara Ali Khan's Quirky First Meeting

Actor Varun Dhawan recently recounted a memorable first encounter with Sara Ali Khan. He shared that he first met Sara when she was approximately 15 years old, during the time his film 'Student Of The Year' had been released. Dhawan described Sara as a young girl in glasses who was engrossed in a phone call while navigating a lift.

He humorously detailed how Sara made a sudden U-turn back into the lift, maintaining eye contact while laughing, leaving him perplexed. When exiting the lift, she continued to follow him, prompting Dhawan's curiosity. Sara later confessed on 'The Kapil Sharma Show' that she was pretending to be occupied while attempting to approach him.

The pair eventually starred together in the 2020 film 'Coolie No. 1', directed by David Dhawan and produced by Vashu Bhagnani. This movie was a remake of David Dhawan's own 1995 film of the same name, which originally featured Govinda and Karisma Kapoor. The 2020 film itself was a remake of the 1993 Tamil drama 'Chinna Mapillai'.

'Coolie No. 1' represented the only on-screen pairing of Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan to date. More recently, Varun Dhawan was featured in another David Dhawan directorial, 'Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai', which was released on June 5 this year. This film is speculated to be David Dhawan's final directorial project before his retirement.
