The Varanasi Development Authority (VDA) is set to develop Anand Kanan Kala Gurukul, aiming to bolster Kashi's cultural heritage. This initiative seeks to solidify Varanasi's position as a worldwide cultural epicenter by preserving and advancing Indian artistic traditions.
The Gurukul is conceptualized as more than just an educational institution; it's envisioned as a holistic cultural center. It will offer training in various Indian art forms, adhering to the traditional guru-shishya model while integrating modern pedagogical approaches.
Located in Anand Kanan, Ravidas Park, the campus will feature a Vedic Gurukul village design, blending nature with traditional Indian architecture and a spiritual atmosphere. The VDA is actively soliciting input from artists and former officials to finalize the project's concept.
Training will encompass classical and semi-classical music, folk music, Kathak, various dance forms, instrumental music, theatre, painting, and photography. The center will also facilitate national and international exhibitions and workshops, fostering opportunities for artists to showcase their work.
