Varanasi Film: India & Mexico's Shared Stories Shine

The film Varanasi, directed by S.S. Rajamouli, was recently showcased at Comic Con Experience Mexico 2026, drawing significant international attention. Producer S.S. Karthikeya, representing the project, emphasized the cultural resonance between India and Mexico, highlighting shared storytelling traditions rooted in mythology and history, similar to India's epics like the Ramayana and Mahabharata. He also noted that the film will incorporate 20 minutes inspired by the Ramayana. The producer found similarities in the warmth, spice in food, and family values of Mexico and his home country, believing these elements will connect with audiences.

Varanasi boasts a star-studded cast including Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, with their characters already creating a stir online. Positioned as a grand cinematic event, the film aims to blend mythological themes with a modern narrative. Its global outreach, including a previous presentation at Le Grand Rex in Europe, and strong visual presentation are building anticipation. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on April 7, 2027.
