The Yogi Adityanath government is enhancing the scale of Dev Deepawali, scheduled for November 24 in Varanasi. Preparations are underway to illuminate the Ganga ghats with over 11 lakh earthen lamps, incorporating a significant number of eco-friendly lamps made from cow dung. This initiative blends spiritual tradition with environmental advocacy.
Dev Deepawali, declared a provincial fair, will see extensive government and public participation. The illumination will extend beyond the riverfront ghats to include ponds and sacred water bodies across the city. Special cleaning and facade lighting will adorn the historic ghats.
Further enhancing the festivities, a laser show and green fireworks are proposed. The celebrations are preceded by the Ganga Mahotsav, running from November 20 to 23, drawing significant numbers of devotees and tourists annually.
