Indian cinema is gearing up for a massive 2027 with 'Spirit' and SS Rajamouli's 'Varanasi' set to be major releases. Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga, director of 'Spirit,' has suggested that Rajamouli's ambitious project, tentatively titled 'Varanasi,' is even larger in scale than his own film starring Prabhas. "That film is bigger," Vanga stated during a promotional event in Hyderabad.
'Spirit' is scheduled for release on March 5, 2027, while 'Varanasi' is slated for April 7, 2027. Despite the close proximity, Vanga remains optimistic about 'Spirit's' box office prospects, believing the approximately 37-day gap will allow for a substantial theatrical run. He humorously dismissed concerns about a clash, stating the window would be sufficient.
Production on 'Spirit' is progressing well, with Vanga confirming that roughly half of the film is already completed. The movie features Prabhas, Triptii Dimri, and Vivek Oberoi and is anticipated to receive an 'A' certificate from the CBFC. 'Varanasi' boasts a stellar cast including Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
