Paul Wesley and Nina Dobrev, who captivated audiences as Stefan Salvatore and Elena Gilbert in 'The Vampire Diaries,' are reuniting for a new project. Their upcoming appearance together is in a TV adaptation of Aggie Blum Thompson's novel, 'You Deserve to Know,' a Hulu thriller. In this new series, Wesley plays a suspect in the murder of Dobrev's character's husband.
The actors deliberately selected roles that steer clear of romantic entanglements. They explained on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast that portraying a couple would inevitably lead to comparisons with their legendary 'Vampire Diaries' dynamic. This conscious choice aims to present a fresh on-screen interaction for their fans, distinct from their past iconic pairing.
Wesley and Dobrev maintained a friendship years after 'The Vampire Diaries' concluded. They had contemplated a future collaboration for some time, seeking a project that felt special and significant. The opportunity arose with 'You Deserve to Know,' which they felt was the perfect vehicle for their reunion. Notably, their former co-star Ian Somerhalder is not involved in this new venture.
