Picasso Painting Worth €600,000 Vanishes During Transport in Spain

On October 16, 2025, Spanish authorities confirmed that a valuable Pablo Picasso painting has gone missing during transit from Madrid to the southern city of Granada. The oil-on-canvas work, titled "Still Life with Guitar", was scheduled to be displayed at an exhibition organized by the CajaGranada Foundation last week.

The painting, valued at €600,000 (Rs 6.15 crore), was part of a private collection being loaned for the exhibition. However, the artwork disappeared while being transported to the venue. National police sources have launched an investigation into the high-profile theft, though they have not provided any further details due to confidentiality rules.

Picasso's works are frequently targeted by thieves due to their immense value. In recent years, two of his paintings have sold for more than $140 million (Rs 1,231 crore) at auctions. One of the most notorious Picasso thefts occurred in 1976, when over 100 of his paintings were stolen from a museum in Avignon, France. All the works were eventually recovered.

Considered one of the most influential artists of all time, Picasso was known for challenging conventional ideas and experimenting with a wide range of styles throughout his prolific career. The disappearance of his "Still Life with Guitar" painting has left the art world in shock and anticipation as the police investigation continues.
