The 15-day Uttarayani Kauthig festival, organized by UP Parvatiya Mahaparishad, commenced on Wednesday at Govind Ballabh Pant Parvatiya Sanskritik Upvan. This year marks the organization's significant silver jubilee celebration, promising a host of unique attractions for the public.
During a press meet, festival coordinator KN Chandola announced that Mayor Sushma Kharkwal will be honored with the esteemed Parvat Gaurav Samman 2026. The festival boasts 168 stalls, presenting a wide array of Uttarakhand's finest offerings, including woolens, fabrics, spices, utensils, and paintings.
Attendees can savor diverse culinary delights, from traditional Uttarakhandi cuisine to Rajasthani, Marathi, and junk food options. Daily dance dramas based on hill folklore, along with competitive performances of Chholia and Jhora dances by 25 teams, will captivate audiences. Folk songs by artists from Uttarakhand will also fill the air.
