Summary

- Powell considers his one year at UT as "the greatest year" of his life
- Powell and Matthew McConaughey regularly attend Longhorns games together

As of November 2025, Glen Powell, a University of Texas alum, has demonstrated his unwavering Longhorns pride through a series of unique home renovations. Though Powell only spent one year at UT before leaving to pursue his acting career, he considers that time "the greatest year" of his life.
To commemorate his Longhorn roots, Powell has transformed his new Austin home with various Texas-themed touches. This includes installing a Texas Longhorns-themed doorbell and creating a "sick" Longhorns-themed bathroom, complete with orange and white tiles. Additionally, Powell has DIY-ed a table out of his Twisters truck grille, which also features the Longhorns logo.
Powell's Longhorn pride extends beyond his home decor. He recently decided to return to his studies at UT, enrolling in the Radio-Television-Film program and completing online classes. While he initially aimed to graduate in spring 2025, he is now targeting spring 2027 due to a "ticking clock" after telling someone about his academic comeback.
Powell is not the only prominent UT alum. His fellow Texan actor, Matthew McConaughey, also graduated from the university in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Radio-Television-Film. The two actors regularly attend Longhorns games together, with Powell expressing his admiration for McConaughey's accomplished career. As Powell puts it, "I feel like I'm a very attainable test case for Austin. I don't feel like I have anything exceptional about me except that I've worked hard."
