Uttar Pradesh Tourism is launching its 'Visit My State' campaign, transforming nearly 50 women entrepreneurs and digital creators into destination storytellers. From October 7 to 9, 2026, this initiative will journey through Lucknow, Varanasi, and Sarnath. The program aims to convert firsthand experiences of local cuisine, crafts, faith, and heritage into fresh travel narratives and market opportunities.
The journey begins in Lucknow and proceeds to Varanasi and Sarnath, emphasizing the state's living heritage. Participants will explore Kashi's temples, riverfront, and food traditions, and engage with the Banarasi handloom community. A key focus is the revival of the Banarasi saree, exploring its skill, labor, and livelihood chain, and its potential in contemporary wear.
This engagement seeks to connect artisans directly with influential women, strengthening the market for Banarasi weaving. The trip will culminate at Sarnath, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, highlighting its significance in Buddhist history and the state's Buddhist Circuit. Tourism officials emphasize connecting travelers with local traditions to foster longer stays and greater opportunities for artisans and tourism professionals.
