Applications are now open for the 36th State Art Exhibition (2026-27), hosted by the Uttar Pradesh State Lalit Kala Akademi. Interested artists can submit their applications from October 1 to October 31. This prestigious event aims to recognize and encourage artistic talent within Uttar Pradesh, a region known for its rich visual and traditional art heritage.
Ten artists creating outstanding works will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 25,000 each, accompanied by a certificate and memento. The exhibition welcomes entries across various disciplines, including painting, drawing, sculpture, graphic art, printmaking, portraiture, wash painting, and traditional art. Eligibility requires artworks to be created after October 1, 2025, and not previously exhibited at a state-level showcase.
To facilitate broader participation, especially for artists outside the state capital, a two-tier screening process has been introduced. Initially, artists can submit two 5x7-inch color photographs per work, with a selection committee screening these before original artworks are requested in Lucknow. Paintings should not exceed 4x4 feet, and sculptures must be within 2x2 feet to 4x4x4 feet dimensions. The entry fee is Rs 300 per artist for a single category.
