The Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Akademi (UPSNA) has officially announced its prestigious awards, encompassing the years 2021 through 2024. A total of 52 artists are set to be honored for their significant contributions to music, dance, theatre, and various folk art forms within the state.
The Akademi cited unavoidable reasons for the delay in announcing these accolades for previous years. A formal ceremony will be organized shortly to present these awards to the deserving recipients. This initiative underscores the UPSNA's commitment to celebrating and promoting artistic excellence across diverse cultural disciplines.
Specific awards include the Safdar Hashmi award, recognizing outstanding achievement in theatre direction and stagecraft, presented to Manoj Kumar Mishra (2021), Rajesh Singh (2022), Ajay Kumar (2023), and Shubhdeep Raha (2024). The BM Shah award for theatre art has been bestowed upon Satish Anand (2021), Kamal Jain (2022), Ravi Shankar Khare (2023), and Sanjay Mehta (2024). Additionally, numerous artists received awards for 2021, including Pt Deenanath Mishra for classical singing and Mala Hombal for Bharatnatyam.
