Universal's Horror Flop 'Him' Fails to Scare Up Box Office Hits

In the past year, Universal Pictures has faced a series of box office disappointments, and their latest horror release, 'Him', has proven to be another major setback. The film, made on a reported budget of $27 million, has managed to earn only around $22.6 million worldwide so far, a far cry from the studio's expectations.

The movie's performance has been particularly weak internationally, with overseas numbers failing to cross even $500,000. In North America, after more than two weeks in theaters, 'Him' has earned $22.1 million, despite being shown across more than 3,100 screens. The film's daily earnings are now dropping closer to $200,000, showing no signs of recovery.

At this rate, it is highly unlikely that 'Him' will be able to recoup its production costs, which are estimated to be around $70 million. The arrival of new horror releases like 'Good Boy' and 'The Black Phone 2' is expected to further pull audiences away from 'Him', making its theatrical run even more challenging.

Despite the studio's extensive promotion and marketing efforts, the poor turnout and weak word of mouth have made 'Him' one of Universal's most disappointing releases of the year. Unless something unexpected happens in the coming weeks, the movie's theatrical run appears to be nearing its end, with recovery now almost impossible.
