Islands of Adventure Loses Lost Continent Land
7 May
Summary
- Lost Continent, an opening-day land, will permanently close.
- Mythos restaurant will shut down permanently in 2027.
- A new major themed area is planned for the site.
Universal Orlando Resort has confirmed the permanent closure of the Lost Continent land at its Islands of Adventure theme park, an area that opened in 1999 themed to ancient mythology. The popular Mythos restaurant is slated to close in 2027, with the rest of the land phasing out afterward. This development is part of the resort's "unprecedented momentum" and expansion plans.
Several attractions within the Lost Continent have already closed in recent years, including the Dueling Dragons roller coasters and The Eighth Voyage of Sinbad show. The park has not yet announced what will replace the Lost Continent, though fan speculation points to potential themes like Pokémon or Legend of Zelda.
Additionally, the Horror Make-Up Show at Universal Studios Florida will temporarily close for a reimagined experience, and the Thunder Falls Terrace restaurant in Islands of Adventure's Jurassic Park area will be replaced by a new signature dining concept. These changes align with Universal's broader growth strategy, including the recent opening of Epic Universe and other announced attractions.
