On October 10, 2025, an art exhibition curated by Lalit Kalakshetra under the title 'Framed Thoughts' commenced at DC Art Gallery in Coimbatore. The exhibition showcased a diverse array of artworks from 15 artists, featuring around 60 pieces. Artists from various regions, including the Andaman Islands and Puducherry, contributed to this vibrant display.
The exhibition highlighted unique art forms, such as those created with fire and rust stains, alongside traditional mediums like acrylic, water, and oil paints. R Rajendran, from Port Blair, Andaman Islands, presented his installation art, which focused on the interplay of shapes and textures. He emphasized the importance of viewer interpretation, stating that he does not title his art, leaving it up to the audience to interpret.
Sasikumar Ammasi, known as a 'rust artist' from Kotagiri, showcased three artworks using rust stains on canvas, on the theme of love. He explained his environmentally conscious approach, stating that normal colors include chemicals and pollutants, while rust is the painting source and raw material of his art, which is obtained from sand and not from industrial iron.
Vasanthakumar Dhanabalan introduced fire art, inspired by the yellowish hues produced when organic materials are burnt. He described fire as a symbol of the present moment, which he captures through his experimental process.
The exhibition also featured other intriguing concepts like fluid contrast and terracotta artwork, offering a rich tapestry of artistic expression. The exhibition will be on display until October 16, and the public can visit from 10 am to 4 pm on all days.
