Summary
- Two children murdered in a small Welsh coastal community.
- A detective uncovers a pupil's body near a salt marsh.
- Filming relied on constructed sets and advanced water effects.

A gripping murder mystery unfolds in the Welsh coastal village of Morfa Halen, where Detective Jackie stumbles upon the lifeless body of one of her pupils. This tragic discovery marks the second child murder in the community within three years, intensifying the investigation.
As a severe storm looms, threatening to destroy crucial evidence and the village itself, Jackie collaborates with her former police partner, Detective Eric Bull. Their partnership aims to uncover the killer responsible for the children's deaths.
The creation of the series involved extensive set construction at Dragon Studios in Cardiff. Key village locations, including a chip shop and butcher, were built on the back lot. Significant efforts were made to realistically portray the harsh weather, with complex water effects used for flooding scenes and a powerful wave sequence.
Filming presented considerable challenges, particularly with scenes involving actors standing in near-freezing water. Advanced techniques, including a hydraulic set that lowered into a tank and a car rigged on a winch, were employed to capture dramatic moments.
Creator Claire Oakley explored themes of environmental protection and the consequences of neglecting vital natural defenses. The story reflects this, with the killer's actions stemming from a skewed perspective influenced by immense pressure and a desire to protect their status and perceived good deeds for the community.
Oakley also discussed the development process, noting that the killer's identity was not finalized until later in the writing stages. The narrative was carefully crafted to ensure the reveal felt earned and surprising, rather than abrupt. The possibility of a second season is currently under exploration.
