Leicester Diwali Film Gets UK Distribution

Principal photography for the British romantic drama "My Indian Boyfriend: The Golden Mile" is set to commence this summer. The film, which is being distributed in the U.K. and Ireland by RFT Films, is set against the backdrop of Leicester's vibrant Diwali celebrations.

Directed by Vijay Chauhan and produced by Hiu Man Chan, the production unites talent and partners from the U.K., Malaysia, Hong Kong, and India. It follows Jasmine, a Malaysian Chinese architecture student, and Krishna, a British-Indian graduate, as their relationship navigates themes of identity, ambition, and belonging within modern multicultural Britain.

The film is poised to be one of the first British independent features to prominently showcase Leicester's diverse communities and its globally recognized Diwali festival. RFT Films expressed delight in bringing the film to audiences, highlighting its authenticity and potential to reach underserved communities and new cinema-goers.

This U.K.-Ireland deal is part of a wider international outreach, with ongoing discussions for distribution across Europe, Asia, and North America. The production will film in various Leicester locations, emphasizing the city's multicultural heritage.
