12 Nov, 2025
Summary
- Udit Narayan faced backlash for kissing female fans at a concert
- Music composer Abu Malik says it's a "sign of starvation for human company"
- Narayan defends his actions, says fans' "craze" led to the kisses
Last month, veteran singer Udit Narayan found himself at the center of a major controversy after videos surfaced showing him kissing female fans during a live performance. The incident sparked outrage on social media, with many criticizing Narayan's actions as inappropriate and unbecoming of an artist of his stature.
Now, music composer Abu Malik has weighed in on the controversy, offering his perspective. Malik described Narayan's behavior as a "sign of starvation for human company," suggesting that the singer's actions were driven by a desperate need for human connection. "It's desperation. One should not be so desperate. You've got everything. You can make arrangements for everything in the world. You don't need to be so desperate in life," Malik said.
However, Narayan himself has defended his actions, stating that the fans' "craze" and "deewangi" (craziness) led to the kisses. "Fans are crazy. We are not like this, we are decent people. Some people encourage this and show their love through this," he said, adding that with so many people in the crowd and bodyguards present, the situation was not as serious as it was made out to be.
Despite Narayan's explanation, the incident has continued to generate significant backlash, with many questioning the veteran singer's judgment and the appropriateness of his behavior towards his fans.
