Ubisoft Acquires March of Giants from Amazon
16 Dec
Summary
- Ubisoft has purchased the MOBA game March of Giants from Amazon.
- The deal includes the development team behind Amazon's March of Giants.
- Amazon will assist in promoting the game on Twitch post-acquisition.

Ubisoft is significantly bolstering its position in the MOBA genre with the acquisition of March of Giants from Amazon. This strategic move not only brings the promising free-to-play title into Ubisoft's portfolio but also integrates the dedicated development team behind it. Amazon will lend its promotional power, supporting March of Giants on Twitch as part of the agreement.
The acquisition is set to finalize by December 16th. March of Giants, a 4v4 game where players command giant war leaders and vast armies, was initially revealed by Amazon in August. Despite its competitive potential, the game faces a challenging landscape dominated by established titles like League of Legends and Dota 2.
Development for March of Giants was spearheaded by Amazon Games Montreal, a studio founded five years ago. Notably, this acquisition sees several former Ubisoft employees, including the studio's founder and March of Giants' creative director, Xavier Marquis, returning to Ubisoft, bringing valuable expertise back to the company.
