Michael Jonathan Smith, the co-creator and showrunner for the initial two seasons of the Peacock series "Twisted Metal," is departing the show. David Reed has been appointed as the new showrunner and executive producer for the upcoming third season, secured through an overall deal with Sony Pictures Television.
"Twisted Metal" Season 2 premiered in July and has garnered 993 million minutes viewed, positioning it as Peacock's second-largest returning original scripted season. The series, based on the popular PlayStation game franchise, features Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz in leading roles.
Reed brings a wealth of experience from his work on "The Boys" and "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds." His extensive writing credits also include "The Magicians" and "Supernatural," alongside contributions to novels, comic books, and video games, promising a fresh direction for the action-packed series.
