Veteran TV Host Mistakes AI-Generated Woman for Longtime Cohost

In a surprising on-air moment, veteran TV host Joy Behar of The View mistook an AI-generated image for her longtime cohost Sunny Hostin. The incident occurred during a live interview with actor and comedian Hasan Minhaj on the October 9th, 2025 episode of the show.

Minhaj revealed that he had used an AI tool to create an image of himself appearing on The View, which he then displayed on the screen behind the Hot Topics table. While the other cohosts, including Ana Navarro and Sara Haines, recognized the image as AI-generated, Behar insisted that one of the two AI-created women in the image was Hostin, who was absent from the episode.

The blunder left the rest of the panel, including moderator Whoopi Goldberg, visibly surprised and amused. Conservative commentator Alyssa Farah Griffin attempted to save Behar's mistake, but Behar could be heard muttering that the AI image "looks like her" even after being corrected.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the growing concerns around the rise of AI technology and its potential to blur the lines between reality and fiction. Goldberg herself has previously cautioned audiences about the dangers of AI, including smart devices like Amazon's Alexa, on the show.
