TV Academy Elects Cris Abrego for Second Term as Chair

On November 14, 2025, the Television Academy announced that Cris Abrego has been re-elected as the organization's chair for a second consecutive term, effective January 1, 2026. Abrego, who ran for re-election unopposed, was reupped during a TV Academy meeting the previous night that also included the election of new board officers and governors who will serve through the end of 2027.
The newly elected board members include Jacob Fenton as Vice Chair, Jo DiSante as 2nd Vice Chair, Megan Chao as Secretary, and Tony Carey as Treasurer. The TV Academy currently has a membership of 27,000 TV professionals across 31 peer groups.
Under Abrego's leadership, the Academy is expected to negotiate a new broadcast deal for the Emmy Awards, which have seen two years of ratings growth on ABC and CBS. Abrego's platform also includes the launch of the Televerse television festival and an advancement of industry advocacy work, including direct engagement with policymakers in Washington, D.C.
