Turnstile Stops Show Over Guard's Alleged Fan Assault
8 Oct
Summary
- Turnstile halted their Oklahoma City concert due to a security guard's actions.
- Frontman Brendan Yates confronted a guard for allegedly hitting a fan.
- A similar past incident involved pepper spray at a Virginia concert.

Baltimore rock band Turnstile paused their performance at Oklahoma City's Criterion Theater this week after a security guard appeared to strike a fan. The incident occurred as a fan attempted a stage dive and was subsequently restrained by security.
Frontman Brendan Yates halted the music mid-song, addressing the crowd and security. He specifically called out one guard for aggression, stating, "That security guard cannot be here, we won't play if he's still here." He commended other guards for their professionalism.
This event is reminiscent of a prior incident in September 2025 at Richmond, Virginia's Brown's Island. During that performance, an off-duty sheriff's deputy pepper-sprayed a concertgoer who was attempting to rush the stage.
As a result of the Virginia incident, the family of a 15-year-old who was directly sprayed in the face has filed a lawsuit against the Richmond Sheriff's Department. The lawsuit alleges the deputy administered the spray without warning or opportunity for the teenager to move.
