Tubi, Fox's ad-supported streaming service, has expanded its partnership with The Black List to launch a dedicated initiative for horror screenwriters. This program aims to discover, develop, and produce original horror films from both emerging and established writers worldwide.
Eligible screenplays must be submitted in English and hosted on The Black List platform with at least one evaluation. The submission period begins on March 1 and concludes on June 30. Selected scripts will be produced and distributed by Tubi, with The Black List serving as executive producers.
This venture follows successful collaborations like "To Be Commissioned" and Tubi's popular "Terror on Tubi" event. Tubi's Chief Content Officer, Adam Lewinson, highlighted the streamer's commitment to genre storytelling, noting horror's popularity among its 100 million monthly active users.
Franklin Leonard, founder of The Black List, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing the potential of character-driven horror scripts. Tubi will also offer fee waivers for evaluations to 100 writers, with further details available on the submission page.
