Hulu has secured U.S. distribution rights for two new series from Banijay Rights. The first is the gripping true-crime docuseries "The Promise: Finding My Mother's Killer." This three-part series chronicles Pooneh Entezari's extraordinary, 30-year journey to uncover the truth behind her mother Effie's 1989 murder.
Effie Entezari was killed execution-style in Vancouver. While her husband was convicted, Pooneh's relentless investigation and personal funding led to a civil trial identifying Viktor Pell as the perpetrator. The series promises a haunting look at tragedy and the pursuit of justice.
Additionally, Hulu acquired "Invisible Boys," an Australian coming-of-age drama. The series centers on a group of gay teenagers in a remote Western Australian town dealing with being outed. Created by Nicholas Verso, the show has garnered award nominations.
Both "The Promise" and "Invisible Boys" will be available on Hulu and the Hulu on Disney+ bundle. Specific launch dates are yet to be announced. The acquisitions mark significant deals for Banijay Rights.
