According to sources, MGM Television has secured the TV rights to adapt the bestselling novel 'The Book of Cold Cases' by Simone St. James. The acquisition comes after a multi-studio bidding war, with Colleen McGuinness set to write and executive produce the series adaptation.
Published in 2022, 'The Book of Cold Cases' follows a true crime blogger who interviews a woman acquitted of two cold case slayings. However, the blogger soon finds herself uncovering more than she expected. McGuinness, an Emmy, WGA, and PGA Award-nominated writer and director, will bring the thrilling story to the small screen.
In addition to McGuinness, the project will be executive produced by St. James, as well as Steve Stark and Stacey Levin through Toluca Pictures. McGuinness is currently in pre-production on her debut feature film, 'Loser,' and has an impressive resume that includes writing credits for shows like '30 Rock,' 'Ramy,' and 'Life & Beth.'
