Rajiv Rai, director of the iconic film 'Gupt,' recently detailed the making of his 1989 movie 'Tridev.' During the filming of the song 'Tirchi Topiwale,' lead actor Naseeruddin Shah expressed significant discomfort, particularly concerning the romantic scenes with co-star Sonam. Shah noted his unease stemmed from the age difference, mentioning his daughter was older than Sonam.
Rai recounted Shah's initial hesitation about the song's choreography, as dancing was not his forte. The director reassured Shah, advising him to approach the scene as acting rather than a dance performance. Shah also openly discussed the age disparity with Rai, who dismissed it, emphasizing their on-screen chemistry for the film.
Conversely, Sonam was reportedly thrilled to be cast opposite Naseeruddin Shah, a veteran actor she admired. She conveyed her excitement to Rai and stressed that the age difference was not a concern for her, expressing a strong desire to work with him.
