Oscilloscope Laboratories has acquired the North American distribution rights for the indie comedy "The Travel Companion." This debut feature from directors Alex Mallis and Travis Wood premiered at the 2025 Tribeca Festival and is slated for a theatrical release in late spring. The film's narrative focuses on Simon, a struggling documentary filmmaker in New York. His best friend and roommate, Bruce, an airline employee, designates Simon as his travel companion, granting him complimentary flights.
Simon's precarious situation escalates when Bruce begins a new relationship with a fellow filmmaker. This development sparks anxiety in Simon, who fears losing the essential travel perks that support his artistic endeavors. The story follows Simon as he navigates his relationships, increasingly desperate to retain the free flights and, by extension, his close friendship with Bruce.
"The Travel Companion" stars Tristan Turner as Simon and Anthony Oberbeck as Bruce, with Naomi Asa portraying Beatrice, Bruce's new girlfriend. The ensemble cast also features Joanna Arnow, Dara Messinger, and Steven Phillips-Horst. Mallis and Wood co-wrote the script with Weston Auburn, who also serves as a producer alongside the directors. The film is a production of Meerkat Media, BRIC, and Art School Athletics.
