In a stunning finale of The Traitors, contestant Rob Rausch successfully deceived fellow participant Maura Higgins to secure a prize exceeding $220,000. Rausch, who gained prior fame on the U.S. version of Love Island, employed a masterful strategy that left Higgins and many others in disbelief.

Higgins expressed her shock and disappointment, noting she genuinely believed Rausch was a faithful contestant and that they would win the competition together. Despite the betrayal, she ultimately conceded it was a well-played game. Fellow contestant Lisa Rinna, also a traitor, was twice deceived by Rausch and admitted to being genuinely shocked by his actions, as many perceived him as an unlikely traitor.

Rausch himself felt the televised edit amplified his nervousness, stating he was less anxious than portrayed. To somewhat mend fences, he gifted Higgins a Hermès Birkin bag. The season's dramatic conclusion contributed to the show's six Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Reality Competition Program, an award it had won the previous two years.
